You do not mention leveling and plumbing or squaring and ways to do so if out of square, plumb and level. You also do not mention having to apply sealer to all assembled parts as the directions that come in the box tell you to do. You make it look much simpler than it really is.

Once you cut and drill the plates you have exposed metal ends and holes which will rust. you should have mentioned those areas will need to be primed and painted.

This was a montage. Not a Timelapse A Timelapse would be putting mounting the camera in a still place taking pictures every 5-10 seconds then playing the pictures as a video.

What they don't tell you, is that there is nothing for the lock to loop into on the other door. Notice how they don't show it in this video. The connection is almost non existent.

I own one of these and I love it but I wish you didn't have have to tighten it so much to keep it in place. I was afraid it would damage my door know. My door isn't going to be opened when this thing is in place

I've been installing Bilco door systems for over 40 years. My first installation was with my high school shop teacher when I was his helper. I remember the street the house was on to this day. Bilco makes the best bulkhead door systems on the market. Any issues that do come up, are 99% of the time, installer error. Plumb, square, level, and your system should work for decades to come. The price on this kit is a huge rip off. All it is a few feet of weather stripping. Should be under $30, not $99! Shame on Bilco! If they had a good product, it would include the weather stripping with the door or have the door be water tight from installation on! Struggling to find solutions for our Bilco doors. Bilco doors are awful.

Are these galvanized? They surely won't last if they are not.

I had a steel Bilco door installed about a month ago, and it's sealed to be waterproof...almost. We had slight rain yesterday and heavy rains today. I found two wet spots on the wooden basement steps on both days. It appears the water is getting in through the very top of the doors. There are very tiny openings there. Any ideas on how to stop these leaks while still being able to open the doors? <G> Sealing around the very top of the two doors is just about impossible because of the overlap.

Powdered coated. Doors are terrible. Rusting with in a month what a RIP off.All that money wasted on junk.very disatified. Door ok paint lousy. Now have a lot of work to have a painter sand in side and outside to remove paint and rust.Prime and paint 650.00.

Wonderful product. I installed the Ultra series, with the 12 inch extension in 7 hrs after spending 2 hours removing the old, rusted Bilco that I had for 22 years. I carefully studied the instructions. I even highlighted important passages, placed them in protective sheets and stapled the pages to the deck, next to the installation. The instructions didn’t mention the purpose of the “Gap Filler” until I stumbled on a photo online showing up to four extensions being joined together, on a long entrance; then it became clear. My son and I lifted the frame into place. The doors lie firm and tight when closed and sheds water nicely. I used a caulk by SASHCO named LEXEL. The installation went smoothly; not bad for a retired Marine at age 72.
